The new online account system is in place to allow citizens to primarily review
· utility consumption
· start/stop utility service
· receive emergency communications
· apply for permits
A flyer was sent in the most recent utility bill and posted at winterset.gov
The online bill pay option is offered BUT NOT REQUIRED and does come with the cost of convenience and processing fees by a third-party vendor and the revenue is not retained by the City of Winterset or Winterset Municipal Utilities. It’s the cost of doing business and often is hidden in other retail markets, the city and utility cannot and will not include this in the utility bill.
In person and traditional payment options are still available! Check, Cash, Debit Card at no cast and have been expanded to include Apple Pay, Samsung Pay, Google Pay, and UnitedHealthcare. Credit Cards do come with processing fees.
The City of Winterset and Winterset Municipal Utilities recently needed to implement these changes to become PCI complaint and balance convenience with digital payment security.
